I’ve been collecting some new makeup products over the last few months, and tried to hoard as much as I could so that I could do a full face of first impressions! Watch me create this spring makeup look using all these products for the first time – many of which are brand new products on the market!

Purple is one of my absolute favourite colours. With so many variations in shade, I find that some purples work better in the winter, and some work better in the spring and summer. For the winter time, I love cool, dark purples and plums. In the warmer months, however, I find myself drawn to lighter shades, lavenders, and pastel tones.

My current favourites are:

  • China Glaze “Below Deck”
  • OPI “Planks A Lot”
  • Finger Paints “Are You Hoppy”
  • L’Oréal “Paparazzi Pleaser”
  • Essie “Ladylike”

Check out my post on my favourite Spring beauty trends!

To get into the spirit of spring, the Beauty Boutique that I work at had a big spring gala! We had music, snacks, makeovers and facials, as well as representatives and makeup artists from different brands! The energy in the store was incredible, and I got the chance to do makeup on some wonderful ladies!

It was exceptionally busy, so unfortunately I didn’t have time to take as many pictures as I had hoped, but I did manage to take a few quick pics!

Here are a couple of the makeup looks I did, on two different age groups:

The first look was a smokey eye with purple tones, a soft face, and pink lips. We kept the face as natural as possible as the client is very young and has such naturally gorgeous skin. The second look was a brighter eye with brown (although it looks rather silver in the photo) definition in the crease, and coral lips.

For my makeup, I wanted to something a bit more fun and dramatic than my typical look. I did a brown smokey eye with gold glitter.

I will be doing a tutorial on this look soon!

It was such a good experience, and it felt so good to do makeup again on other people!

If I wasn’t in the mood for spring before, I most definitely am now! Bring on the pastels, corals, pinks, and flowers!

For today’s makeup of the day, I thought I would start playing around with some different looks for springtime, despite the fact my city just received yet another snow fall. However, the sun is shining and I suspect that the snow will soon melt, and spring will finally arrive.

While my love for sweaters and boots will never falter, I do find myself being drawn towards spring trends like florals and pinks, and it’s really making me excited for warm weather! I must admit, I do miss maxi dresses and sandals.

The MAC Pro class that I went to last week really helped inspire me to start playing around with warm looks! I am absolutely loving glowy skin with a bit of a bronze glow.

To get a bit more of a glow, I love using a highlighter. MAC’s Mineralized Skin Finishes are my favourite! I am currently loving “Perfect Topping”:

While a part of me is not yet ready to say goodbye to sweaters, scarves, cardigans, and dark lipsticks, another part (albeit a much smaller part) is excited for the return of sunshine, bright colours, and floral.

I have always been a winter baby, and find comfort in sweaters, scarves, boots, warm drinks, frosty eyes, and red lips. However, thinking about spring/ summer makeup does help remind me of how nice warm weather can be; I now realize how much I truly do miss the feeling of warmth on my seemingly eternal Canadian-winter skin.

When I think of Spring/Summer beauty, I think mainly of peaches, corals, and pinks paired with healthy glows and radiance. I think of softness, pastels, and sun-kissed skin.

Working in the beauty industry allows me to constantly be around new and exciting products, so I have been seeing a lot of different spring collections from a variety of brands!

This post will be all about the spring trends that I am most excited for, as well as some of the products that I think are perfect for spring/summer!

My favourite spring trends:

1. Peach & Coral Lips

To me, coral and peach lips are the definition of spring! Clarins makes some of the nicest lipsticks and glosses; my favourites are the Joli Rouge lipstick and gloss in “Papaya”. For a “drugstore” alternative, Revlon’s “Coral Berry” is gorgeous!

2. Warm Cheeks

This is perhaps my favourite aspect of Spring/Summer beauty: warm cheeks. I love love love bronzers and peach-toned blushes with soft gold shimmer! Baked blushes are perfect for helping to create that healthy spring glow!

3. Cream Blushes

Cream blushes are perfect for spring and summer, as they help to achieve that glowy, dewy look. While powder blushes can stick to any dryness or roughness in the cheeks, a cream texture helps to smooth out the skin and give radiant color!

4. Glowy Skin

To achieve that healthy glow, highlighters are a gift from the heavens! I may have a slight addiction to highlighters-and by “slight” I mean I want to buy every one I come across. There are so many different kinds out there, but so far my favourites are the Skin Finishes by Mac! Gold Deposit and Soft & Gentle are extremely popular. For a liquid highlighter, Benefit’s High Beam and Clarins Eclat Minute Instant Light are wonderful products that can be added to the cheekbones or even mixed with foundation for an all-over glow.

5. Bronze & Gold Eyes

I have always been drawn to gold-tones and shimmer, and spring/summer is the perfect time to wear them! The L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows are my absolute favourite, and they can be found at the drugstore! They are long-wearing and very pigmented. For bolder wear, I find they work wonderfully over top of a cream eyeshadow (such as the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadows or the Mac paint pots).
