October is in full swing, and my brushes from the Morphe Me monthly brush subscription have arrived! This month’s package is appropriately Pumpkin Spice themed, and features 4 brushes: 3 eye brushes, and 1 double-ended face brush.

Morphe Me October

Morphe Me October 2018 Brushes:

  • E25 – Pointed Foundation/Concealer Blender
  • E30 – Blending Fluff
  • E37 – Small Detail
  • E35 – Detail Smudger

E25 Pointed Foundation/Concealer Blender: (synthetic bristles)

I was so excited to see this brush, as it’s double ended and has tapered tips on both sides. It reminds me of the Stila #33 One Step Complexion brush – but is, of course, a fraction of the price. One side has a larger end with a pointed tip that is ideal for liquid products, such as foundation, concealer, and contour.

Personally, I find it a bit too small and tapered for applying foundation. However, I love using a brush like this to apply and blend concealer under the eyes. It’s also great to use with cream contour products to sculpt your cheekbones, as you can apply it very precisely.

The smaller end is ideal for concealing those hard to reach places. It’s great for applying concealer around the nose, on any blemishes, or under the eyes. Especially towards the inner corner of the eye, as we often neglect that area due to it being hard to reach!)

I accidentally left my brush in my bag, and it got a little temporarily bent! Oops!

E30 Blending Buff: (synthetic bristles)

This is a fluffy blending brush with a flatter, wide shape. Think of the Mac 217 or Morphe M433’s bigger, fluffier, huskier cousin. The bristles are super soft, yet it’s firm and slightly domed allowing you to easily diffuse and blend colour. This is a fantastic brush for softening or blending colours in the crease of the eye.

The shape might initially seem similar to many other eye blending brushes – but upon further investigation, it’s definitely the only one of its kind in my collection!

Here’s a comparison of the E30 and M433:

E37 Small Detail: (Synthetic Bristles)

This teeny tiny brush is similar in shape to a lip brush. Small, precise brushes like this are great tools for any makeup artist or enthusiast, as they give you so much more control when applying eyeshadow to certain parts of the eye. I love using this brush to apply a light, highlight shade to the inner corner of my eye. It’s also great for applying colour to the lower lash line. Morphe suggests also using this brush as a lip brush!
I have quite a few brushes now that can be used for this purpose, so I didn’t really need another. However, if you don’t have any small precision brushes, this could be a great one for your collection.

E35 Detail Smudger: (synthetic bristles)

This is definitely one of my favourite brushes from this month’s package. It’s a tiny brush with a pointed, slightly tapered tip. This is a fantastic brush for smudging or applying colour (whether it’s powder shadow, creme, gel, etc.) along the lash line, in the crease, and more. It’s been my go-to brush for smudging a dark brown shadow along my lash line, for a soft diffused “faux eyeliner” look. It’s also great for smudging colour along the lower lash line.

Do I recommend this month’s package?

Morphe now has the option to swap out certain brushes if there are some you aren’t interested in! You do this before your package ships – I might have swapped out the E37 brush for something else as I have a couple similar brushes, September passed by so quickly I completely forgot to check what brushes were launching for October.

Overall, I’m really happy with this month’s Morphe Me Brush subscription, even though I definitely don’t need any more makeup brushes. If you’re looking to grow your brush collection, I truly do love the Morphe Me subscription and think it’s a great value.

It may only be early October, but in the makeup and fashion world that officially means it’s the Holiday season! The Holiday collections have begun rolling out, and there are so many exciting launches! I recently got the chance to play with the new PUR Sweet 16 collection, and as soon as I saw the sequin packaging I knew I needed to write about it!

Above images are from the PUR website!

This year marks the 16th anniversary for the brand, and they are celebrating with a special edition Holiday collection: the PUR Sweet 16 Collection! Working as a makeup artist for the last 5 and a half years, I’ve had the pleasure of watching them grow immensely in that time. They have rebranded, repackaged, and have really stepped up their game to become huge contenders in the competitive cosmetic industry. In my opinion, they are the perfect example of a brand listening to their consumer requests and using that feedback to grow and improve.

The PUR Sweet 16 collection just went live in stores, and online this month. It features 7 items:

The collection features gorgeous white packaging, with a sequin design. What makes the packaging so unique is that the sequin/glitter is cased inside the front cover.

The Celebrate Your Selfie Blockbuster Set is definitely a standout product in my opinion. Not only because the eyeshadows are stunning and super pigmented, but also because it’s such a great value! You get 16 eyeshadows (matte, shimmers, and pressed glitters), a mini lip gloss, mini mascara, set of false lashes, 2 blushes, and a highlighter! The only aspect of this I didn’t like is the box, as it’s neither storage nor travel-friendly. However, I have it on good authority that the eyeshadows are magnetic and can be (carefully) detached from the box. You could likely de-pot these and pop them into a magnetic palette!

The next item on my radar is the Love Your Selfie III Sweet 16 Face Palette & Mini Mascara SetI am always a sucker for PÜR eyeshadow palettes, as their formulas are incredible and they perform so well. I always find the colours to be super pigmented and easily blendable! This has a range of warm tones with a couple of neutral shades, and a mixture of mattes, shimmers and pressed glitters.

The Sweet 16 Kiss of Confidence Set comes with 3 lipsticks, and 1 hydrating lip balm with. It’s a clear balm with a hint of sparkle that you can wear under lipstick to prep the lips, or over top to add some extra sparkle and hydration!

They also launch a limited edition brush set every year, and these are one of my favourite items to get as they’re such a great value! This year’s set features the oval brushes. If you’re a fan of oval brushes, these are some of the best quality on the market (in my opinion!) The bristles are soft dense, and of course cruelty-free!

PÜR also launched 2 exciting new skincare items in this collection!  A new gold sheet mask set, and a skincare set featuring exciting new launches! It contains an illuminating setting spray, the 4-in-1 primer, a gold peel-off mask, and a shimmering dry oil! These products are infused with some amazing ingredients, like liquorice extract, vitamin C, ginseng, and green tea.

Overall, I think this collection is absolutely gorgeous. The palettes are definitely the biggest wins for me, as PUR’s formula is incredible and they are such a great value!

What are your thoughts? Are there any stand-out products for you?

October arrived in a flash, so quickly that September feels like it just started! I definitely lost track of time this month wasn’t able to post these wallpapers earlier, despite how excited I was. October is probably my favourite month of the year as it contains 2 of my favourite things: Fall, and Halloween. For this month’s wallpaper background, I wanted to incorporate both of those elements – but I also understand that not everyone loves or celebrates Halloween. So instead of creating a Halloween-themed wallpaper design, I wanted to focus more on the Fall aspect of it. With a pumpkin, of course!

Makeup Declutter – Foundation I’m Throwing Out!

Everyone has a certain set of colours they feel the best in and the most themselves in.  I’ve always been a neutrals girl – bronzes, browns, and champagne colours are my preferred cup of tea. That being said, there are so many flavours of tea out there, and life would be boring if we only over drank the same type every single day. I’ll stop with the tea analogies now. In the world of eyeshadows, I consider neutrals to be the Earl Grey and English Breakfast of the eyeshadow world. Gorgeous, classic, and wonderful, but you shouldn’t necessarily limit yourself to them. There are so many other colours out there – like blue eyeshadow!

BH Cosmetics Blue Eyeshadow colorful makeupI never really loved how I looked in colourful eyeshadow until recently. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved playing with colour – but I felt a lack of inspiration for a while. I decided recently that I needed to get back into what made me fall in love with makeup, and that’s experimenting; just sitting down, playing with products, and seeing what comes out of it! I’ll be sharing more makeup looks like this blue eyeshadow halo eye regularly here on my blog, and on my Instagram!

Affordable Palettes To Create Colorful Looks:

I’ve been playing with 2 palettes from BH Cosmetics for a couple of weeks now, and I’m so  obsessed with them! I love how this blue eyeshadow/halo eye turned out! I’m planning to do a full review of the palettes soon, so stay tuned for that! They are such great palettes for anyone wanting to add some fun and colour to their collection – and they’re extremely affordable!

The next instalment in my makeup declutter series is all about foundations! See what foundations I’m throwing out and getting rid of, and why! I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I’ve been hoarding foundations like they’re going out of style.

I’ve tried more foundations that I can count, always on the market for the next best foundation – sadly,  more often than not I end up disappointed. My skin has always been difficult, as I’m prone to sensitivity and texture. Many foundations end up looking heavy and cakey on my skin, accentuating texture rather than hiding it.

Join me as I declutter my foundation collection, and I’ll show you which ones I would repurchase!

Cruelty-Free Dupes:

In this makeup declutter, I mention foundations from brands that test on animals. I now only buy and promote brands that are cruelty-free, so I wanted to include some cruelty-free alternatives to those foundations mentioned:
