I’m slightly shocked to already be doing my January 2016 favourites! It feels like just yesterday that I was doing my fall favourites post. To see what my month looked like on Instagram, click here!
As for my favourites, I have quite a few new products, because – shocker – I couldn’t help myself from buying new things!
My favourite products of the month were:
Hourglass Ambient Bronzer: I’m a huge fan of the Ambient Lighting Powders from Hourglass, and purchased the bronzer in “Luminous Light” when they first launched. Admittedly, it sat in my drawer barely used for quite a while. I’ve recently been on a huge bronzer kick (mostly due to my obsession with the MAC #135 brush which I talked about here!) This bronzer is phenomenal for adding warmth, dimension, and a gorgeous glow to the skin. It offers the same glow that you would expect from the Ambient Lighting powders, and that same finely-milled, smoothing texture. This is seriously one of the best bronzers I’ve ever used. A word of caution though: it is much more pigmented than you would expect. I highly recommend only applying a small amount, then slowly building up. If I apply too much on myself, it starts to look a teensy bit orange.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder #01: I became obsessed with this highlight this past month, as I’ve been super into the more natural makeup look. This highlight is very unique – a must have for highlight junkies or those looking for a more natural highlight! It’s a very smooth powder with no visible shimmer or sparkle particles. It’s very finely milled, so you can’t see any chunks but it reflects the light perfectly! It doesn’t create that wet, glistening highlight, but moreso a natural gorgeous glow. It also has Vitamin E and Jojoba oils, which helps it to blend so smoothly on the skin!
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion: I was a little skeptical at first, as I have a love/hate relationship with the True Match line (love the Lumi, but it sometimes makes my skin irritated if I use it everyday.) I also thought “oh great, another cushion foundation.” I won’t go too in depth as I am planning a full review of this foundation, but I will say this: this foundation is amazing. It is by far one of the best foundations I have ever used, and that’s saying a lot because I typically hate foundation. It’s ideal for dry skins or those looking for a light, healthy finish.
BH Cosmetics & Carli Bybel Palette: This palette is so gorgeous, and such an affordable price! The textures and colours are stunning, so blendable and creamy, and feel like luxury eyeshadows. You can read my full review and see swatches here! This palette is perfect for everyday and more glamorous looks!
Clinique Turnaround Overnight Moisturizer: I’ve been a huge fan of the Clinique Turnaround range since I worked with Clinique (now nearly 3 years ago! How time flies!) It’s geared towards boosting cell-turnover, for smoother and more radiant skin. This is a great line for those aged 20-30, or just anyone struggling with dry, dull, or lackluster skin. The line was recently revamped and reformulated, and I have fallen in love with the overnight moisturizer. It’s super hydrating, and makes my skin look so healthy, radiant, and refreshed in the morning. Since it helps boost cell renewal, it also helps to fade my acne spots and smooth out texture!
Milani Rose Powder Blush in “Tea Rose”: When I first purcahsed this, I thought it was more so for looks and not for quality. I initially thought it felt stiff and dry – and it does in the pan, but it applies so nicely to the skin! This particular shade is a dusty pink that isn’t warm, but isn’t overly cool either. It’s ideal for a natural-looking soft flush of pink, and since it’s more of a matte it’s great for all skin types, even those suffering with acne (a matte blush is typically better for smoothing the look of skin, because it won’t attract attention to imperfections!)
