If you frequent the beauty blogosphere (otherwise known as the blackhole that sucks you into watching hours of youtube beauty videos, wishing you were a beauty guru, and makes you want to spend all the money) you’ve likely heard of the Morphe 35O palette.
Jaclyn Hill in particular has been raving about this palette – and as she’s one of my favourite beauty gurus, I was instantly intrigued!
I was very skeptical about this palette, considering the cost was so low. I thought it would be cheap and flimsy, with poor pigmentation and chalky textures. Watching videos and reading tons of amazing reviews definitely changed my opinion on that, though I was still a tiny bit hesitant. I thought perhaps these bloggers were exaggerating, especially if they are Morphe affiliates. Boy, was I wrong.
The price: It retails for about $22 USD, and $29 Canadian. Shipping is a tad pricey if you live outside the United States, at about $14 (okay, perhaps that isn’t pricey to everyone, but I’m a cheapskate when it comes to shipping). However, it does come in a big box full of those foam peanuts and bubble wrap – it’s definitely the most protected makeup item I’ve ever received. Considering you get 35 shades for the price that some people – okay, I’m guilty of this – may spend on 1 single shadow alone, it’s a pretty great value.
I know it’s been nearly impossible to get as it keeps selling out so quickly online, but Morphe did say they were going to continue to be releasing more stock in the next few months! It took about 2 weeks to ship, which is long by my Sephora VIB Rouge shipping standards, but I’m just not willing to pay a crazy amount for rushed shipping.
The shades: If you are a fan of warmer tones, this is undoubtedly the palette for you. It has browns, burgundies, cranberries, golds, neutral tones, highlight shades, oranges, reds and shimmery champagnes. It’s basically every fall-lover’s dream, with mostly every warm tone you could need. However, I was pleasantly surprised to also see some more neutral/cool tones as well!
(swatches of some of my favourites, as shown below!)
The textures: It has a range of textures, some smoother than others. The foils are the most pigmented of all (such as the super shimmery champagne-ish shade that everyone has been loving!) Others are more of a satin-shimmer, and then there are also very blendable mattes. It’s honestly the perfect array of shades and textures.
This palette is by far one of the best eyeshadow palettes I have ever tried, especially considering the cost! The range of colours is perfection, the textures are so smooth and blendable, and the colours are very pigmented. Gazing at this palette pretty much makes me want to bathe in Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and wrap myself in a plethora of cozy scarves.
My favourite shades are:
I heard some say they found the palette had a strong talc-ish smell. I disagree, as I didn’t notice any smell whatsoever.
Needless to say, I now completely understand why everyone has been raving about this palette, and why Morphe has been selling out of it like crazy. If you love warm toned shades, or are looking for an amazing (yet very affordable), or are a makeup-lover on a budget, I 100% recommend this palette!
Morphe, you’ve got yourself another fan!
