Arbonne Glossed Over Lip Gloss & Smoothed Over Lipstick – Review & Swatches

I recently got the opportunity to try out the new range of lipsticks and lip glosses from Arbonne! I did a review for Arbonne lip products when I first entered the blogging world (which you can read here!) and fell in love with the lip range. When my friend Kaitlyn told me about the new lip products that recently launched, I knew I had to try them! (And no, this post is not sponsored!)

If you’re not familiar with Arbonne, here’s a little backstory: it’s a green, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free company from Switzerland. It was created in 1975 by Petter Mørck in tandem with biologists, herbalists, and biochemists with a vision of providing clean, effective, safe botanical-based ingredients.

This new range of lip glosses is described as offering “maximum lip shine with major softness.” The formula is infused with plant extracts, peptides, and a wonderful variety of natural oils to infuse lips with hydration and comfort. “Maximum lip shine” is no understatement. – in the best way possible. They aren’t shiny in an “I’m signalling outer space with the intense sparkle on my face” kind of way, but rather they reflect light in a way that makes the lips look full, hydrated, healthy, and luscious.

Arbonne Gloss collageSome of the key ingredients: Sunflower Seed oil, Castor oil, Carnauba wax, Candelilla wax, Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Shorea Robusta Resin (an extract from a type of tree).

As for the texture, these glosses are somewhat on the thicker side, which I personally like as I find that’s what allows them to have great colour payoff, lasting-power, and shine. They are incredibly long-wearing for a gloss, and some even seem like more of a lip-lacquer with how opaque they are (Larkspur, Anise, and Cosmos for example!) They are so wonderfully moisturizing. They’re extremely comfortable to wear, and leave your lips feeling smoother and more hydrated, without feeling overly sticky. They also smell incredible! There’s something about lip glosses that smell like baked goods that makes me exceedingly happy.

My favourite colours are definitely “Primrose,” “Linden,” and “Mallow.” I have a serious weak spot for pinky-nudes.

Like the Glossed Over Glosses, the lipsticks also feature an ultra-hydrating formula. It offers luxurious, pigmented, and long-wearing colour, while still maintaining hydration and comfort for all-day wear. They’re infused with fruit extracts to help naturally plump and volumize the lips while providing moisture to the lips. They’re incredibly smooth and have a creamy, satin finish. They glide on, have amazing colour payoff, and look so beautiful on the lips. I didn’t find that they settled into the lines or dryness on my lips, but actually left my lips feeling more hydrated after!

Arbonne Lipstick CollageThey’re definitely not matte (and although matte lips are ever-so trendy, they’re neither the most comfortable nor practical for everyday wear.)  While I do sometimes enjoy a matte lip, I personally can’t stand to wear matte everyday. For a quick, everyday look I love to opt for more of a creamy, hydrated finish – and these lipsticks hit that nail right on the head!

Key ingredients: Castor oil, Carnauba wax, Candelilla wax, Jojoba, Mango butter, Lentil, Apple, and Watermelon extracts, and Meadowfoam Seed Oil. These ingredients all come from natural origins and have smoothing and moisturizing properties.

I was so shocked at how much I love these lipsticks – not that I was expecting them to be bad by any means, but I was so impressed with this new formula and how truly hydrating they are, and how smooth they make the lips look. A lot of lipsticks claim to offer hydration, but as soon as you apply them, you can see every unpleasant nook and cranny on the surface of your lips. These, however, are absolutely gorgeous.  If you suffer from dehydrated lips, dry lips, or fine lines (whether from age, dehydration, or smoking) these lipsticks will make your lips look significantly healthier and younger.

My favourite shades are definitely “Guava,” “Hibiscus,” and “Aster”.

My only complaint is that I wish there were more colours! There is a great range, however my (albeit excessive) obsession with pinky-nude tones yearns for more neutral pink shades in the range. But I do think it’s impressive that they’ve chosen a range of such bold colours considering the hydrating formula, as many brands tend to shy away from that!

What color gloss would you use with peony lipstick

I would use Linden, Primose, or Mallow! Primrose will compliment the pink tone, while Linden and Mallow are neutral enough they’ll just add a subtle gloss over top 🙂
