MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadows – Review

MAC recently launched their Extra Dimension Eye Shadow collection. Mostly all of these are re-promoted shades from previous limited edition collections, however these beauties are finally here to stay. That’s right – they’re all permanent!

What they are: these “hybrid” formula shadows combine the smoothness of a cream shadow, with the easily blendable texture of a liquid, yet feel like a powder. They are so incredibly smooth and creamy, yet wonderfully pigmented. They’re dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, and can be used wet or dry (I find using them damp helps them last longer!)  They’re available in 18 shades.

The name fits perfectly – they really are extra dimensional. No color is what it at first appears. Each shade has a rich variety of multidimensional shimmer and sparkle, and changes slightly depending on the light! These were definitely a “love at first swatch” product for me.

I picked up 6 shades (so far – but I definitely plan on getting more!)

They apply beautifully dry, but are even more pigmented and long lasting when applied wet (a brush dampened with Mac Fix + works really well!)

With primer (Smashbox 24 Hr Eyelid Primer) I personally found they lasted over 6 hours. However the longevity greatly depends on your eyelids, your primer, and how you apply them!

I am so in love with these shadows. What are your thoughts on them?
