April 2015 Favourites

April flew by, and brought the promise of sunshine and warmth. I found myself swapping my usual berry-toned lipsticks for peaches and corals, and started to yearn once again for glowy, bronzed skin.

I had quite a few favourite products this month – due mostly to my slight makeup shopping addiction (Sephora had a VIB sale, how could I resist?!)

My favourite products for April were:

La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care: This moisturiser/treatment helps to soothe, heal, hydrate, and protect the skin.  I will be posting a full review of this soon!

In less than 2 weeks, it’s cleared up my dry patches, my eczema on my cheeks and under my eyes, has reduced my redness and sensitivity, eet has even helped my acne! It’s given me soft, hydrated, and dewy skin it’s even safe for the eye area (although they’re launching a version specifically for eczema/allergic eyes in May!)

Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo: I’ve been so excited for these to launch ever since I heard about them in September! (A full review with swatches is coming soon!) This contour/highlight duo is so easy to use, and can be applied underneath or over top of foundation. The creamy textures dry to a more matte finish, making it perfect for sculpting the face. I personally find it works best for me underneath a thin layer of foundation/tinted moisturiser. This product is so pigmented, a little goes a long way! I got the “Light” shade, and love using it with either the Stila contour brush, or the Urban Decay Naked flushed brush.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in #01 “Nude Pop”: I practically squealed when I unpacked these at work – this new lip range is absolutely stunning. Creamy, smooth, hydrating, yet pigmented, they have a beautiful formula and incredible colour range. A colour and primer in one, they give true, saturated colour with a soft velvet finish. They come in 16 beautiful shades to flatter all skin tones. I want nearly every single colour.

“Nude Pop” is a gorgeous pink toned nude (I know, I know. As if I needed more pinky nude lip products). The next colours I want to get are “Sweet Pop,” “Melon Pop,” and “Fab Pop”.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Opal”: these highlighters have been exploding with popularity throughout the beauty community – after seeing so many raving reviews, I had to try them for myself. I am so so glad that I did, as they are perfection. They’re so soft and creamy for a powder, with ultra finely milled shimmer. It gives you a stunning “glow from within” without looking sparkly or chunky. It looks gorgeous to highlight the face, and also works really well as an eyeshadow!

“Opal” is described as a “golden opal pearl.” It might be a bit dark for my super pale-skinned girls out there (“Moonstone” is lighter and tends to suit paler skin!) My only complaint with these is that because the texture is so soft, they break so easily! I placed it down on my desk a bit too hard, a tiny chunk broke off. Be careful with these beauties!

Smashbox Crush On Blush Palette: this limited edition palette quickly captured my heart. I have been completely obsessed with it, and have been using it everyday! (You can read my full review with photos/swatches here!) My favourite colours are the Shimmer highlight, and “Rosette!” It’s such a gorgeous palette and such a great value, I highly recommend it!

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Plumping Gloss: (full review here!) This is definitely the best lip plumper that I’ve used thus far. I’ve noticed a big difference in the fullness of my lips, and now hate going a day without it!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: This mascara has been flying off the shelves! I got a sample of it from Sephora, and wasn’t a fan when I first used it. I decided to give it another try though, and am really impressed! I still like to curl my lashes first because they’re so straight, but this mascara is incredible for adding length, curl, and definition. After removing my lash extension, my own lashes looked pretty pathetic. This mascara, in combination with my Estee Lauder lash primer, helped me look like I have eyelashes again!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless concealer: another product that has been blowing up social media, this new Urban Decay concealer was very well named. I think of it as the lovechild of Nars Radiant Creamy and Mac Pro Longwear. It’s a full coverage concealer that doesn’t look like a full coverage concealer – how cool is that? The formula is thin yet pigmented, helping to cover dark circles, imperfections, blemishes, etc while not looking heavy or cakey. It has some great ingredients in it too, like peptides, green tea, sodium hyaluronate, and a lychee derivative to help fight ageing, smooth, and hydrate the skin.

I’ve had quite bad luck with under eye concealers lately, but am really loving this one! I think it’s a must-try for all you beauty lovers out there!

Sephora Collection Sonic Airbrush Sponge: this was a total impulse buy. I was super sceptical but so desperate to find something to help make my skin look smoother – and this does just that! This unique tool has a dense sponge attached to a vibrating base that smooths, buffs, and blends foundation into the skin. While I don’t think it necessarily “airbrushes” my skin, it does apply foundation SO much smoother and more evenly. It gives me more coverage without having to add extra product or look cakey. I personally find that dabbing/pressing rather than buffing circular motions work best for me, and gives me a gorgeous dewy finish with my Maybelline Fit Me foundation!

This is such a cool product, and has even replaced my beauty blender!

I didn’t know you worked for Clinique–me too:) I was so so excited when we got these as well!! My absolute favorite is the Plum Pop with the Nude Pop as a close second though. The Bare Pop is really pretty as well… I could go on and on about them haha. I really want to try out that Sonic Airbrush Sponge–it sounds wonderful!

That’s awesome!! I used to work for Clinique at a department store, but I don’t anymore. Now I work at a Shoppers Drug Mart boutique that carries Clinique as well as other prestige brands. I’m the Clinique line captain so I always try to stay on top of the new releases! What do you think of the new revitalizing oil??

Oh so fun! That’s nice you get a good mix of other lines:) At first to be honest I was quite skeptical about it just because it a ‘dry oil’ and it feels nothing like the oils I’ve used before. I’ve put it on a few people and my AE is just raving about it–she applies it right after her serums and is saying it helps to control her oil. Have you tried it out?

I was skeptical too especially since oils are such a huge trend now. But oh my GOD its amazing. Makes my skin so soft and it looks so healthy after!
