Lip Injections Are The New Black
To plump, or not to plump? That is the question that seems to be floating around the internet and social media lately. Lip injections have become commonplace, as social media has seemingly created the hype around full, luscious lips with lip injections. There are a ton of lip plumping products on the market, many of which sadly do not live up to their claims. I will admit, I have been a lip-plumper skeptic for many years – Until I tried the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme gloss, that is.
This “turbo power supreme plumping lip gloss” claims to give you an instantly fuller pout, and to also increase the volume of your lips over time. Pretty big claims, I know.
What it does: this “lip injections” serum-gloss uses a “quadra-delivery system” with Vitamin E, MaxiLip, and Marine sponge to encourage blood flow, make lips fuller, and also rehydrate with the body’s natural moisture to help it last. It hydrates and smooths the lips with amazing ingredients like jojoba oil, and avocado oil.
How to use: Too Faced and Sephora recommend using it morning and evening with your usual skin care. I personally like to use this before at the beginning of my makeup routine, that way my lips get hydrated and plumped and ready for lipstick!
My lips are usually the last thing I do, so when it comes time to apply lips, I dab off the excess, dab my lips with my foundation brush (I don’t add any foundation, I just use whatever might be leftover – to neutralize the colour of my lips and mattify them a bit. Lips that are too moisturized/glossy make it difficult to apply liner and lipstick).
Does it work? Absolutely. I am so impressed with this and have noticed quite a big difference in the fullness of my lips. Some of my friends have even noticed it too! I wouldn’t say it gives me Kylie Jenner lip injections lips by any means, but it definitely plumps. As you can see in the before image, my top lip is regularly very undefined. The biggest difference I notice is that it makes my top lip much more prominent and defined, which makes it far easier to apply lip liner and lipstick.
Note: this stuff does sting quite a lot. When I first used it, it was actually a bit uncomfortable. It felt like sharp stinging/mild burning. But that went away within a few minutes, and while it still stings mildly, my lips got used to the sensation very quickly!
I have become quickly addicted to this, and will most definitely be repurchasing in the future!
