Part of what I look forward to most about the holiday season is holiday makeup. To me, winter is the best time to bring out the glamorous makeup – I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly feel like rocking bold red lips, full foundation, and glitter eyeshadow in the sweltering heat of summer.
When I think of Holiday makeup, I think of sparkle, glitz, and glamour. I think of gold, glitter, and a plethora of red lipsticks.
As soon as I felt a chill in the air, all I could think was “oh my god. It’s almost glitter and red lipstick season!”
Here are some of the products I am most excited to use!
MAC Nocturnals Gold Holiday Pigments & Glitters (2013) These have been my most-used pigments/glitters to date, the “Gold” especially! Purchasing this set last year sparked my addiction for MAC pigments and glitters – while seemingly pricey, they are an amazing value as they last forever! I love using “Gold” for a gold smokey eye!
MAC Objects of Affection “Rose” Pigments & Glitters: (2014) I have been eagerly awaiting this holiday set of pigments & glitters since…well, since last holiday season. This is the “Rose” set, and features five rose-toned pigments and glitters, all of which are absolutely stunning! (You can read more about them here)
MAC “MAC Red” Lipstick: This has been one of my absolute favourite reds. It’s the perfect blue-toned vivid red, with a satin finish.
MAC “Fashion Revival” Lipstick: from the new Matte collection, this is a deep yet muted raspberry tone, and is a gorgeous colour for fall and winter! I am incredibly impressed with the texture – while it is a semi-matte, it’s much more comfortable to wear than the regular matte collection.
Estée Lauder “Envious” Pure Color Envy Lipstick: This entire collection is stunning. The lipsticks have hyaluronic acid right in the formula, so apart from being insanely rich and pigmented, they’re also very hydrating! These lipsticks feel like pure luxury. “Envious” is a stunning scarlet red with a cream finish.
Guerlain Perles d’Etoiles Meteorites Illumination Pearls from the “A Night at the Opera” holiday collection: these are basically little pearls of wonderful-smelling beauty. They give a subtle glow to the skin, with a hint of bronze. You can read about them here!
Bobbi Brown “Pink Glow” Highlight Powder: This limited edition highlighter, from the Scotch On the Rocks collection, is absolutely stunning. It’s a light, champagne-toned highlighter that gives the skin a beautiful glow. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend it!
Lise Watier Celestial Light Powder: this has quickly become my new favourite highlighter. You can read about it and see swatches here!
