Juicy Couture recently launched their “Viva La Juice Gold Couture” fragrance. I haven’t personally been head-over-heels in love with the Juicy Fragrances (although to be fair, I haven’t tried all of them). However, when the boutique that I work at received a shipment of this new perfume, I was immediately drawn to its beautiful gold packaging. Yes, I undoubtedly judged the book by its cover-or in this case, the perfume by its package.
This perfume is all about glamour and decadence, and is a warm and luxurious rendition of the original Viva La Juicy.
It comes in a gold, square-shaped glass bottle that feels quite heavy and luxurious. It’s very similar to the Noir bottle, but with a gold bottle instead of pink, and a polka-dot, more fmesh-styled tulle for the bow. I will admit the design is slightly on the gaudy side with the fabric/tulle bow, but it is such a glamorous-and slightly bolder scent-that anything less would simply not do it justice.
It’s available in a 50ml (approximately $80) and a 100ml (approximately $102)
Juicy Couture describes the main notes as including “luscious wild berries”, “a kiss of honeysuckle” and a “luxurious elixir of golden amber,” as well as melted caramel and vanilla. It’s a warm, sweet fragrance that smells like luxurious vanilla and caramel. It is utterly delicious without being overpoweringly sweet.
It was basically love at first smell, and instantly became my new favourite fragrance, triumphing over my One Direction perfumes, and even my Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren.
While it is a bit heavier and deeper of a scent compared to the light summer fragrances such as the Ralph Lauren Big Pony #2, it doesn’t feel or smell heavy whilst wearing it.
Typically different fragrances strike me as being suitable for certain seasons, however for some reason this one seems as though it would be great for the warm and cold months-something I rarely find with a fragrance.
As fragrance rarely seems to last on me, I was skeptical at first.
I am seriously impressed with how long it lasts. Last night (approximately 10:00pm) I sprayed my wrist and neck, and I can still faintly smell it on my wrists as I type this review (currently 1:00pm). It hasn’t turned sour or become altered, but has retained a lovely warmth and subtle sweetness.
As an Eau de Parfum, it is intended to be longer wearing than an Eau de Toilette. It lasts far longer than any other fragrance I have tried so far. It’s one of those fragrances that actually smells even better the longer it sits in your skin.
If you love warmer, more luxurious scents, you will likely love this. While it is a luxurious and decadent scent, I mean it when I say that it’s not too strong or or over-indulgent. It’s the perfect amount of warmth, sweetness, and subtlety.
To all you you glamour-loving ladies out there, you have got to try this fragrance.
It is without a doubt my new favourite!
