September Favourites!

Wait…September is..over? Already? IT’S ALREADY OCTOBER? Am I the only one having trouble grasping this reality? It feels as though yesterday was June, and then I blinked, and suddenly October has come.

Not that I am necessarily complaining, as fall is my absolute favourite time of the year-but I’ll talk more about that in a post dedicated to the fall season.

September has been a month of change, busyness, and learning. I started a new job, a new relationship, and started my makeup artistry program. I have learned so much in the past month, and have been able to try a HUGE amount of new products (thank you, Clinique!)

I feel so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to start working with a cosmetic brand like Clinique at so young. I’m just starting out in the beauty industry, and the past month of work has taught me so much about skin care and beauty. Not to mention my skin is the best it has ever been!

So, yes. The majority of this month’s favourites are Clinique products.

As a disclaimer: No, I am not getting paid to say any of this. I have been lucky enough to sample a bunch of products, and have also purchased some on my own. These are all products that I have been absolutely loving and that have been working great for me, and I simply wish to share that with everyone!

Here are the products that I’ve been absolutely loving this month:

  1. Clinique Deep Comfort Body ButterImage

I have severely dry skin, as well as Eczema. As skin is the largest organ, it simply means more surface area to get itchy and dry. The drastic change in weather and temperature of my city has only worsened this, and has left me in a desperate search for relief.

I am allergic to products that contain fragrance, and unfortunately the majority of body butters out there tend to contain fragrance. This stuff is beautiful. 100% fragrance free and allergy tested, it’s super gentle on my sensitive skin. It’s a thick, rich cream that blends beautifully into the skin.

There’s something about a rich body butter after a hot shower that always helps me feel pampered and calm. Seriously. I’m addicted.

2. Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Milk Image

After demoing this product at work and trying it on myself as well as on clients, I knew that I absolutely needed this as a part of my skin routine.  It’s a gentle, milk-like consistency as the name would suggest, and helps to break down makeup and dirt particles. Cleansing your face isn’t enough to break down makeup (if you wear makeup, that is), and can leave behind residue and dirt that can clog pores and cause pimples. I pump a dime size amount of this onto a cotton pad, and wipe it around my face it gentle upward motions. It’s amazing what comes off of your face. I do this before cleanser, that way it helps to get rid of all the surface gunk prior to cleansing and helps the cleanser better clean your skin and pores.

3. Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator

This stuff right here has been an absolute godsend for my dry face. And when I say dry, I mean DRY. Having eczema on my cheeks gives the appearance of constant flaking and dryness, and can be brutal to deal with. This little gem right here helps repair and protect your skin’s moisture barrier. It comes in a regular formula and an intense (the one I use) for drier skin. I can proudly say that in the month that I have been using a Clinique skin care routine with this moisturizer (in combination with the Dramatically Different Moisturizer) not only has my face eczema COMPLETELY cleared up, but my skin is no longer flaky or dry. I am honestly shocked with how my skin is doing. I have had no eczema breakouts, and my makeup lasts all day without settling into dry cracks or pores. It doesn’t feel tight or irritated. I am so unbelievably happy with my skin right now.

4. Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes in Bountiful Beige

I am obsessed with Chubby Sticks. They are so cute, and the colours are absolutely gorgeous. The lighting wasn’t that great to show the true colour: it’s a beautiful light champagne colour that’s similar to light skin tones. I love to use this as a base under eyeshadows to help prolong the wear of my shadows, but it also looks fantastic by itself.

5. Clinique Chubby Stick for Lips in “Woppin’ Watermelon”

Again, I must repeat…I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE. I think that these Chubby sticks-for both eyes and lips-are simply the cutest things ever. So many brands have lip balm/sticks now, BUT Clinique was the first! They come in a variety of colours, from sheer colours to the intense/bold formulas. They’re moisturizing and super convenient to keep in your bag for on the go!

6. Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo in “Strawberry Fudge”

This has been my go-to eyeshadow for pretty much all of September. The colours are gorgeously pigmented and blendable. I typically wear the Chubby stick in Bountiful Beige as a base, layer a champage/lighter beige over the lid, blend the pink in the outer half of my lid, and blend the brown into the crease. I’m so impressed with the colour payoff and with how long they last! As with all Clinique products, they’re allergy tested and fragrance free!

7. Lise Watier Makeup Brush Cleanser

This has been a life-saver in class, as we switch between colours and products and a quick clean and disinfection is CRUCIAL to successful makeup artistry! This brush cleaner is super affordable and available at most drugstores!

8. Beauty So Clean Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist  Image

Okay. So. This stuff here is basically gold in sanitizer form right now. It’s an alcohol sanitizer that cleans and disinfects powder products, such as blushes and shadows. Makeup Artistry requires cleanliness and proper hygienic measures, which can be difficult and tedious if doing back-to-back clients. This cleanser primarily consists of alcohol, which is one of the more common products used for cleaning makeup. Sadly, these are being pulled out of Canada for some terrible reason. I’m not sure about other areas of the world, but they are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. I went to my local drugstore, and picked up the last 6! If you can find these, DEFINITELY pick one up! One quick spray and a wipe of the product, and you’re good to go!

Heya are using WordPress for your blog platform?
I’m new to the blog world but I’m trying to get started
and set up my own. Do you require any coding expertise to make your own blog?
Any help would be really appreciated!

    • October 19, 2013 / 6:09 pm

I do indeed use wordpress! It’s super user-friendly and significantly easier to navigate in comparison to a lot of other sites and platforms out there. I have virtually no coding knowledge, so I just used a pre-made theme and customized it a bit!
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging!! 🙂
